Week 34: Developing Wisdom

 Objectives:

  • explore the concept of environmental responsibility from a variety of perspectives (Christian, Humanist, Utilitarian). The best answers will (a) be either very deep or very broad and (b) use very appropriate software in order to present your ideas.
  • begin to develop wisdom by using research to support different perspectives (past and present news stories, scientific and religious predictions for the future). The best answers will use and reference high quality articles in order to add credibility to their viewpoints. The use of short quotations may be relevant.

Key words: stewardship, domination, dominion

HWK: ensure that this piece of work is completed and printed in time for next lesson and brought with you in order for you to share your wisdom!

Week 25

9EA2: in my absence please complete the following:

(first 20 minutes)

Use the handouts to mark your assessment. Read carefully and systematically and honestly grade your work. Make comments identifying where you have fulfilled requirements and where you have missed or deviated from them. Explain any problems (all of this should be written on nyour actual assessment). Set yourself a target that could apply to a project in the future but also to your day-to-day written work e.g. always use appropriate examples to illustrate points and quotes where possible. Record this on your project and in your homework diary. Submit project for moderation.

Rest of lesson: Superstitions

Create a poster that explores the veracity (truthfulness) of a number of superstitions.

1. Start by defining what a superstition is at the top of your page and then

2. give 5 examples of superstitions, one for each of the following types: religious, cultural, birth, marriage, death.

3. For each, explain the meaning behind them

4. Explain what an omen is and how it differs from a superstition.

Extension task: What superstitions do you or your family believe in? Why is this and how does this belief impact upon your life? Is your belief rational or irrational? why?

If you don't go on wiki then it won't email you. The only exception is those 7 day get started emails that you get.

Oh, and try to keep on the topic. This is not for general chat, but for feedback on the page so that people who actually take this seriously, and the Admistrators, can make this site the best it can be for you all to use.
