Developing wisdom: Week 34: Questions to consider
Starter question: 'It is so difficult to follow the 5 pillars that it is hardly worth it.'
Do you agree? Give reasons for your answer and show that you have thought about different points of view.
Questions to consider during lesson : WWGD (What would Gandalf do?)
Choose a question that interests you and conduct some research to find out the answer. The aim of this activity is for you to develop wisdom. To be wise you must be informed and have spent time reflecting upon an issue. You must be aware of different viewpoints and have considered different approaches. Start by using the BBC website (can you guess why? What are the BBC known for?) and then look elsewhere. Keep a log of your findings, websites used, problems encountered and how you dealt with them. Tip: Mindmapping/ concept mapping software will help you to present work in an aesthetically pleasing manner and will enable you to manipulate and make connections between ideas.
Think carefully about how this work can be used to help in your Y7 project. You will need to feed back on what you have done at the end of the lesson. Your research this lesson will need to be available to you during next lesson when we will develop our wisdom further!
- How does a Muslim make a decision? (When might there be conflict?)
-
- What is the Taliban? Are they Muslims?
-
- What is Jihad? (And when is it appropriate)
-
- Can you be a Muslim and be violent? (When?)
-
- What is it like to be a Muslim in a non-Muslim country (compared with a Muslim one)?
-
- What might it be like to live in a Muslim country as a non-Muslim?
-
- Why was a mosque recently burned in Pakistan?
Don't forget to be wise!
Y7 Islam project
I highly recommend using the BBC website (googe BBC Islam) as this is a truly fantastic resource. You could make connections to recent news stories. There is a prayer time calculator that will help you.
Youtube.com can be really handy for finding examples, opinions and explanations. Take the time to read the comments people have made below the videos and don't forget to include references to any websites or resources you have used.

Instructions for 7ST1
Once you have created your photostory addressing the question "What is the connection between Jesus and miracles?" you should upload your finshed photostory to this page.
CHECK FIRST that you have 'completed' your photostory so that is is saved as a WMV file. On the last page of the photostory there are two save options. The default save location will be myvideos so ensure that you remember or alter this and upload the WMV file and not the photostory.doc file. Post questions below if you have trouble.
UPLOAD HERE and include ur initials or name in the file name so that i kno who created it

PROJECT INFORMATION - due in week 24
This week you will be beginning your Y7 project. Click on the link below for general instructions. Today's lesson should be used for research and information gathering and NOT for creating a very colourful title page!
Investigation instructions.docx
Investigation instructions 97-2003.doc
LEARN FROM PAST SUCCESS
Before you begin (and as you progress) read through and use this piece of information (link below). This is a feedback sheet i gave to last year's groups, which helped them to understand whath they did well and where they went wrong.
Understanding Christian person grade.doc
Understanding Christian person grade 97-2003.doc
TAKE OWNERSHIP OF YOUR SUCCESS: KNOW WHAT GRADE YOU'LL GET BEFORE YOU BEGIN
The two files below contain the level feedback forms i have given you in the past. The left hand column (AT1) is information that concerns knowledge and understanding. And the right hand column (AT2) concerns understanding and evaluation. When used together they can result in some powerful writing. Tailor your answers so that you are using the skills described. We will work with these levels next week. In the meantime, decide what grade you will get!!!

Week 18 iCT

compare to P.12 in the Christian Experience book
Go to www.religiousstudies.co.uk
Examine images of Jesus and answer as a mindmap
1. Which picture appeals to you most? Why?
2. What can it tell us about Jesus?
3. How might it help any Christian to pray/ worship?
4. Does it matter that we don’t know what he looked like/ that he never wrote anything down?
Save and print work
Homework
Arrive at the next lesson with 10 facts about Christians and 10 questions about Jesus' life. These can be in your GNB or typed. You will be using them to build upon your mind map.
Current IAR questions
1. Describe some of the occasions when Moses and Abraham encountered God. (10K)
- the 'K' menas 'knowledge'. It means I am testing what you KNOW about these 'historical' events. For higher levels you might include a discussion of your own thoughts and whether you think they actually happened.
2. Explain why the land of Israel is so important to Jewish people. (10K/U)
- This was the first homework and required book-based research in order to state and explain the historical events that have led to the Jewish state being founded. A good explanation would explain why it is still important to Jews today and also consider the events that first brought the Jews to Israel.
3. How do rules enable us to be free? The Ten Commandments (10 89)
The 'E' referes to evaluation. Here you must express your opinion. It is good to consider both sides of the argument. This is arguably the most difficult graded question in year 7. It requires you to think logically and philosophically. Take time to crflect on your ideas and remember that there is always an opposing point of view.

1. make sure that your photostory has been finished and saved properly so that it becomes a WMV file.
2. log in and select 'edit' at the top of the page (as opposed to 'view')
3. on the right hand side you can select 'browse' and then 'upload' file
4. place the cursor on the page and click on the link to the file you've just uploaded to add a link on the page
Any problems then just make sure you bring your file on memory stick to the next lesson
