Upper 6th Photostories

The following presentations were created by the upper 6th and are responses to the assertion that 'An embodied life in Heaven is entirely possible'. Some pupils opted to write the essay instead and these will be uploaded shortly. Both approaches will be assessed using the same mark scheme.

Homework due first lesson of week 11:

'2 stars and a wish'

Look at each of the presentations and think about the content (as well as the aesthetics). Write down two ideas (preferably underneath the links) that you liked and one that would help them to improve.

Make comments next to your name and resave the document. If it turns out to be more complicated than that please add instructions below.

Due week 13

Follow the link below and scroll down to H. The Afterlife: Badham and Glyn. Choose one of them and complete the exercise. As the reasons why you have got an answer right or wrong are explained to you, it will not matter that you have not done the reading. Use what you discover about either philosopher (or both!) to improve at least one slide in what you think is the best PPT in each section. Do not upload these changes but save your work under a differnt name on your own account, print (minimum 4 slides) and bring to the next lesson.

Ricky here - I do see a problem in that these files are .pptx format and some computers, including mine, don't have powerpoint 2007 and so can't view these

Ricky raj: - good knowledge of a wide range of scholars
- each theory was followed up with a question to evaluate / analyse it, this provokes more in depth thinking
- To improve: RICKY YOU ARE NOT ROCKY!

Juicy Lucy: - great choice of song
- views from hick and christianity very clearly presented
- big up the BBW!
- To improve: more evaluation of the theories presented, and less alan titchmarsh :)

Joe is cool: - another great song
- inclusion of many scholars which had not been previously discussed in depth, such as Bertrand russel, and AJ Ayer
- very in depth knowledge of the christian standpoint
- To improve: less "SOUL" jokes, and maybe make it more concise / shorter

Tighty Whitey: - Good reference to relevant bible verses which strengthen the theories presented
- Liked the Mona Lisa example to explain the replica theory
- Way to expose Dawkins for the gayman he is
- To improve: choose less depressing music next time!

ricky - what can i say - textbook and beyond knowledge of scholars and their understandings
-great analysis which is obviously what is needed
-perhaps slow it down a bit, probably just me though

lucy - liked the aesthetics of Hick
-very succinct notes
-maybe express your opinion a little more implicitly

Joe - tune!
- very very very good portion of Christianity
-yeah i agree with fyvie, maybe slim it down a little

The White - very clear points, simply made - liked it
- liked the analytical questions you included after the points
- nice slewage of Dawkins

Lucy - good overview of Hick and Christianity and the classic arguments
- images left a lasting impression - helped put points forward
- would be nice to have some additional reading

Joe - wow! extreme breadth and depth of knowledge shown
- nice counters employed - liked the additional scholars
- distil knowledge and focus (i know its rich coming from me but remember you will be writing an essay, i'm also trying to improve this)

Dan - nice analysis of christianity n hick
- liked that you didn't forget materialism, n outside stuff eg hinduism n penelhum
- ummmm... i'm not that sure really, asthetically it was all good...ummm...yep! kudos!

Personally i thought they were all good and offered a wide range of ideas.
however, whoever said i copied it off the internet can take a running jump!

Rocky Sharma- generally ok... probably level 7- use of tech lang and scholars
-good synoptic lnkage to hinduism
-could have focused more on the heaven side of the question

Lucy - very well balanced answer
-good on the fundamentals of Hick etc
- disliked the picture at the end, and lack of scholars

Joe WAALSSH- very in depth lots of scholars i hadn't thought about
-great choice of song
-probably a bit to much content, not realistic for a timed essay

Dan- perfect

I'm showing a film on Monday called ZERO: AN INVESTIGATION INTO 9/11. (QE2, Monday Luncthime)

It's a very informative documentary about what really happened/what didn't happen (i.e what the Official Commissioon Report said) on September 11th 2001.
I know many of you are probably thinking: "Oh that's just another ridiculous conspiracy theory with no evidence to back it up". Well, please come and watch the film to verify your widely views.

Please don't treat this as something trivial.
PEOPLE DIED AND CONTINUE TO DIE BECAUSE OF WHAT HAPPENED ON 9/11. A GLOBAL WAR ON TERROR HAS BEEN WAGED BECAUSE OF 9/11. We should know what really happened!

INVESTIGATE 9/11

"Condemnation without investigation is the height of ignorance."
-- Albert Einstein

"A society whose citizens refuse to see and investigate the facts, who refuse to believe that their government and their media will routinely lie to them and fabricate a reality contrary to verifiable facts, is a society that chooses and deserves the Police State Dictatorship it's going to get."
-- Ian Williams Goddard

"A nation of sheep will beget a government of wolves"
--Edward R Murrow

Would it possible to be more specific on the classroom notes and handouts on the Life After Death stuff? Asking because I reckon I may have some of that filed under Body and Soul work in my folder by mistake

Not sure where we were meant to put the ideas for the "pleasure machine" so ill just leave it here.

Nitrous oxide we could use because it has the effect of making everything funny against our will, kinda like being tickled =D
